Things that inspired me to write about them...

I decide to make this blog because of some of the things I've been doing lately and because I want to remember them. So here we go, about 6 months in one post.

I taught myself how to cross stitch. This is my first attempt. It took me a good long time but I figured it out! I have I bigger pattern that I really want to make for my eventual kitchen but it's counted cross stitch; I'm yet to tackle it.

My future sister in law got married this last October. I was super honored when she asked me to do all of her flowers for the wedding. She picked out the artificial flowers and supplies and I assembled. I was really proud of them and a lot of people at the wedding were impressed. I felt pretty accomplish- especially because it was her special day!

Every year, from when I was very young, I made nut roll with my Buscia at Christmas time. I think I could do it with my eyes closed. When Buscia died my Grandma made sure that I kept baking. Two years ago my Grandma died from Breast cancer, and I never considered skipping a year of nut roll. I make it with my Grandpa now, he sees the value in the tradtion, and these were this years batch (only part of them). These were the best rolls I have ever made! No crack or splits and lightly golden brown. Perfect!

This Christmas was perhaps my most proud creative triumph! I encouraged everyone to use newspaper for wrapping paper. My whole family did it and it was an awesome sight under the Christmas tree! I don't think I'll ever go back to wrapping paper again; it felt so good to recycle! I even made my own bows out of magazines! They turned out super cute!

This was my attempt at homemade fruit roll ups. I thought "how good and healthy would that snack be?" It was pretty simple really, A fruit of your choice, blended, add some sugar and spices of your choice and spread it on a pan. Cook on a very low temperature. Unfortunately, the first attempt was a fail but only because I didn't let it cook/dry long enough. First time for everything right?

Student Teaching

Student teaching was an awesome experience. And, in theme with my previous blog, I jumped in and attmepted creativity.

This picture shows two of my creations. This was my favorite activity and biggest success as far as teaching methods while student teaching. I wrapped milk crates in butcher paper and marked A, B, C, D and true and false on a side. For reviews or extra time at the end of the class, I split the class into teams and made a power point with questions on it. The student whose turn it was would have to find the right answer on the blocks (and their team could help/cheer them on). The kids really really liked it and seemed to benefit from the reviews! I'm for sure going to carry this idea onto my classroom when I get one!
This was my bulletin board. I was just really proud of it :)

The beginning of documentation...

I take a lot of pride in my creativity. Everything I do, I try to do with my own spin and style. I love thinking outside the box and making people say, "wow." However, when I want to remember an idea I had or something that I made or was proud of, I always forget about it. So, in order to remember the amazing creations (not really), I can blog about them, perhaps share them and best yet, remember them. We'll see how it goes.
